No debate about it.
The state of American Politics
stinks.
FACT: In 33 days, Americans will
head to the polls. In 34 days, campaigning for the Election of 2016 will begin.
FACT: The House of Representatives
adjourned on Friday, September 21st, finishing legislative business 46 days
before Election Day. The House has not adjourned this early before an election
in over 50 years.
FACT: Exiting Washington with an overall approval rating of 13 percent, Congress left oodles of
business unfinished, including a job plan for veterans, and policies aiding
farmers and homeowners who need to refinance. More alarming? Congressfolk - elected officials more concerned about
their jobs and their paychecks than their constituents - adjourned, failing to
produce a budget plan, or address the end of the year tax hikes and defense
cuts that could plunge the federal government over the proverbial fiscal cliff.
Methinks it's time to
mobilize, Americans! You can do one of two things:
1. Quit the Union and
join the Quingdom.
2. Listen to your President, and change
Washington from the outside.
Call
your Congressional Representatives, and demand that they support The Replacement Legislator Act of 2012.
Haven't yet heard of The Replacement Legislator Act of 2012?
It's a brilliant piece of
legislation that establishes a
National Legislator Guard; Replacement Legislators who can be mobilized for state or federal active
duty at a moment's notice, substituting for elected legislators during their
reelection campaigning, or national political emergencies.
Under The Replacement Legislator Act of 2012, a
Governor or President can activate National Legislative Personnel to “Active
Duty” whenever Elected Representatives choose to leave critical legislative
business unfinished, or miss a required number of key votes and/or hearings in
the House or Senate.
Think
of The NLG as The National Guard for Governing, much like The National Guard for Defense.
300 full-time Replacement
Legislators - six from each state - will be selected by bipartisan committees every four years to
comprise The National Legislator Guard. Formal training for Replacement
Legislators includes The Bipartisan Program for Newly-Elected Members
of Congress, a bipartisan orientation program for incoming U.S.
Representatives that provides intensive
seminars on major public policy issues like foreign policy, health care and
the Federal budget.
Further training for Replacement Legislators on
inactive duty includes one weekend a month of study and lectures, and one week
a year attending legislative sessions at state and federal levels. All those
called to active duty will be paid the absent legislator's salary while on
duty, and guaranteed their previous job and salary upon return home.
Requirements for service in The
NLG? Applicants must be 30 years old, a
US citizen, a non-felon, and concerned more about country than self. They must pass a
written exam determining reasonable intellect, and demonstrate competency in
listening, negotiating and compromise.
It's that simple, and exciting, dear
Reader!
So call your Congressional
Representatives, and demand that they support The Replacement Legislator Act of 2012.
A National Legislator Guard,
comprised of Reasonable Patriots ready to activate at a moment's notice will
keep all politicians working actively and honestly for the public good.
It will force politicians to be public servants - more
focused on constituents' needs than partisanship and reelection campaigns.
It will lift Congressional
Approval Ratings way out of the teens.
Elevate Discourse. Lessen Cynicism.
Transform the state of American Politics from stinky to spectacular.
No debate about it.
QUING Hereby Decrees: It's
broken. Fix it.
